Thea Gajic

Thea Gajic is an actress, writer and director who uses her on-screen experience to tell stories that celebrate the beauty and relatability of everyday life.

Gajic, who was born and raised in South London, originally studied drama, and worked as an actor before directing her first short film, Run. Awarded the New Talent Award at BFI Future Film Fest, Run offers a brief snapshot of the daily life of a group of young women, accompanied by a spoken word piece also written by Gajic. Having directed a raft of short films – including a Stormzy project that premiered during his Wireless headline set in London in 2018 – Gajic is now working on her debut feature film, Surviving Earth, which was selected as one of 12 projects in the 2019/20 iFeatures development programme.

Themes of parenthood, age, trauma, and an ambition to smash stereotypes around young people, resonate in much of Gajic’s work. Her own acting experience has given her an innate understanding of the time and patience needed to let actors do their best work, meaning reality and believability are hard-wired into her narratives.
